Description

The Mathematics Instructor (Independent Contractor) will provide instructional services designed to deepen 7–10th grade students’ understanding of mathematics and STEM concepts through problem-solving, data modeling, and real-world applications. The contractor will design and deliver engaging lessons that support program goals, focusing on building critical thinking, analytical skills, and academic growth. Contractors are not employees of UWLF and retain discretion over their instructional methods.

Scope of Work: The contractor will provide instructional services to students in grades 7–10 with a focus on Math and STEM. The contractor will design and deliver engaging lessons that support student growth and align with program goals. UWLF will provide a curriculum framework and objectives, but the contractor has discretion in instructional methods and approach to meet student needs.

Contract Terms: ● Projected Contract Duration: February 21-April 18, 2026

● Onboarding: January 22-February 13 , 2026

● Approximate Number of Hours throughout the duration of the contract: 50-70

● Compensation: $30 – $40 per hour (experience-based).

● Scheduling: Most sessions take place during evenings or weekends; contractors are encouraged to provide flexible availability to meet program needs.

● Work Location: Remote. Contractor provides own technology and reliable internet.

● Deliverables may include instructional sessions, sample lesson plans, pacing guide, and progress updates, to be completed in accordance with the contract scope.

● Invoices: Contractor invoices UWLF monthly for approved instructional hours.

Responsibilities

● Deliver engaging math instruction aligned with program objectives.

● Develop lesson plans, activities, and resources as appropriate.

● Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents as needed.

● Maintain professional communication with UWLF program leads.

● Submit invoices for instructional hours worked.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in English or related field; or secondary education with ELA emphasis.

● California Single-Subject English or Multiple-Subject credential (Emergency Permit NOT acceptable).

● Minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience.

● Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken & written).

● Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet).

This posting is for an Independent Contractor (1099) opportunity. Contractors are not employees of UWLF. All tax obligations, insurance, and benefits are the responsibility of the contractor. Final scope, deliverables, and compensation will be defined in a written Independent Contractor Agreement.
